..And tells the Left to take a walk.

India’s gentle Prime Minister finally had enough. Three years after he became the Prime Minister, three years in which he has been repeatedly pushed around by the Left, he has finally decided to call their bluff. In an interview with the Telegraph newspaper, the Prime Minister stated categorically,

“I told them that it is not possible to renegotiate the deal. It is an honourable deal, the cabinet has approved it, we cannot go back on it. I told them to do whatever they want to do, if they want to withdraw support, so be it….[link]

The Congress party is standing firm behind the Prime Minister with its leaders applauding his courage. The Left on the other hand isn’t quite sure how to react,

CPI leader D. Raja was more explicit. “The Prime Minister has not said that he does not want our support. It is our decision to support the government and the question of withdrawing support is a larger political decision. When to withdraw, how to withdraw, whether to withdraw is for us to decide. He cannot decide for us.”[link]

As this blogger has said before, when the push comes to shove, the Left has nowhere to run.
