I even read a newspaper report this morning in my office – A cop started crying and fled the scene when terrorists threw grenades !! Sad really.

If it were the movies, Rajni Kant would’ve gone straight for the terrorists’ throats, even if it meant getting hit by a few bullets in the chest. He would’ve survived the bullets AND got the terrorists.

In reality, a common police officer with wife and kids and pigeon shit for salary doesnt have much of a chance carrying an old .303 against psychotics carrying AK-47s and grenades.

I think he did the right thing. He should have run straight to the Home Ministry, grabbed the secretary by the collar and demanded better weapons if they actually expected him to fight those psychotics.

Why is that? Because ATS didn’t kill her? what happened to the conscious keepers? May be you care what ATS was doing for the past month?

Instead of preparing for more attacks and laying a plan on how to deal with future situations, ATS had their hands full…. apparently they had solved all unsolved terror cases…

May be these guys are Hindu terrorists and ATS has been on their case all along…

@shadows: Show some respect. He died in the line of duty.
That said, the police is unprepared, badly equipped, badly trained and carrying antique 303s even today. Morale isn’t great. They probably stop more nasty things from happening than we hear about. But looking at the response through the night, this is not a scenario that was imagined and worked out.

What happened to the ATS, usually full of bravado ??
What I find amazing is their level of competence…. Beating up an unarmed woman in jail is one thing, and fighting with terrorists is another. Who is to blame for these deaths ? The government? Are the security forces so ill-trained to handle terrorism ?

Don’t u dare call karkare as a shaheed or a martyr. he shud share at least half of the blame for this attack. he was sleeping. he did not go in himself, while behind a vehicle he got a bullet from the other wing of the hotel from where he was in full view.

let just death of a person not make him a martyr. this will put down many of those policemen who actually died fighting. we made a martyr of the two officers who were killed in kabul similarly. let us reward action not death because of just presence.

my condolences to the SHAhids who laid down their lives for this.

The death of all these officers shows the kind of planning gone into it and how the terrorists predicted trhe cations of these police man. Shri Hemant Kharare – He recd th phone call that there was gun fire in some place and he immediately rushed off personally to look into it.,When he got off the jeep , 2 terrorists put bullets into him. ( This is what i have gathered from news channels – maY not be truE) Now for this the people who planned it knew the modulus operandi of ATS and the expected reactions from them . There seems to be an insider s hand in this ( that is what i feel)

I’m not sure that Karkare was killed while attempting an encounter engagement. It seems that the terrorists had staked out a hospital where they anticipated that wounded would arrive. When Karkare went there, the terrorists ambushed and killed him.
